L&D Sentiment 2024: AI Top of Mind, Concerns about Resources, and Big Hopes for Showing Value
March 26, 2024
It’s that time of year again: The results of The L&D Global Sentiment Survey are in! And this year, to no one’s surprise, Artificial Intelligence reigns supreme. In fact, AI “won” the primary question, “what will be hot in workplace L&D this year?” by an unprecedented margin, earning more than 21% of selections from the 3,200+ respondents. But of course, we want to dig deeper, so Donald Taylor joins us to discuss the free-text responses he received, how respondents are feeling about AI (and why), the change in significance of social learning, a hopeful focus on showing learning value, and much more.
Each year for the past 11 years, Don Taylor has asked the entire community for their opinions and feelings on what forces will have the greatest influence in the world of Learning and Development. Since the advent of ChatGPT, it’s been hard to see beyond the hopes, concerns, claims, and overall anticipation around artificial intelligence. So it’s no surprise AI came away dominant in the 2024 Global Sentiment Survey.

As Don explains, this survey shows how learning practitioners FEEL about their arena this year. In an attempt to go a little deeper and observe what they’re doing and how it’s working, we discuss the 3,000 free-text answers to the question, “what are your L&D challenges in 2024?” There’s plenty of trepidation, anticipation, skepticism, and perhaps most importantly, dedication to figuring out how technology can take learning to the next level.
