3: Australia Day or Invasion Day?
March 10, 2020 • 24 MIN
This week I we are the annual Invasion Day March in Sydney on the 26th January 2020. The 26th January is celebrated by many as the founding day of Australia, the day Captain Cook first ‘discovered’ the nation. However, in recent years there has been a growing unease with this name. For many it is a day of mourning, the day 267 years old Indigenous genocide began. I spoke to Aboriginal tribal elders, spokespeople and campaigners who explained why this day is so painful for them and about the inequality and prejudices Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people face.  As part of this, we hear from a grieving mother about her son’s death in custody. This is a very pofwerful and emotional episode which discussed topics some listeners may find upsetting.

March 3, 2020 • 20 MIN
This week I am in Australia joined by Eureka Science Prize winning Journalist Micheal Troy from the ABC, to discuss all about the darker side of Australia's native Eucalyptus tree. In the wake of devastating bushfires across the continent, it seems that some species are more in favour of the fire than it first appears. If you would like to donate to bush fire aid one great charity is https://www.wires.org.au/

Ily also tells us what it’s like being a creative in an industry that really tries to take that away from you.  What a way to finish Mimazine on Air's first season!  Find out more about the EJF (https://ejfoundation.org/) 's work.  Follow me on: Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/mimazine1/) .

4: Halo: Breaking the Chains
February 22, 2019 • 40 MIN
In the light of the UK's first ever conviction for FGM, I am joined by Virginia Raffalei from the Durham Student Halo Project. We are often deceived into thinking that honour-based violence, forced marriages and FGM don't happen here in the UK.  Sadly, Virginia tells us otherwise.  "When the whole world is silent, even one voice becomes powerful." - Malala Yousafazi A powerful, upsetting message but one society needs to hear.
