The Story of LIFESTORY "Writing is my passion. Helping others write their LIFESTORY is a gift." —Richard Squires, creator and owner of LIFESTORY Richard Squires Author & Professor Early on, Richard had an affinity for listening to family stories and writing them down to share with others. Writing about family is at the core of who he is; it has had a profound effect on his life. Richard's career path has led him to become the author he is today. As a university professor of writing and a writer in corporate communications, he has honed his craft. He thoroughly enjoys assisting others with their writing for personal, creative and professional purposes. LIFESTORY developed as an organic connection between Richard's passion for storytelling and his drive to capture his grandfather's life stories before those memories were lost. The concept for LIFESTORY was born on Thanksgiving of 2015 when Richard's grandfather, Grandpa Ben, asked, "When are you going to write my story?" Richard created a memoir on his grandfather's behalf, molding the words gathered from the interview into an exciting narrative that preserved his unique voice. The culmination is when the book printed on the day of his grandfather's passing at the age of ninety-two. It was a heartfelt book reveal after spending so much time one-on-one with his grandfather. His memoir is a legacy; to hear him recount his LIFESTORY brings back great emotion and peace. Four generations of Squires men! At LIFESTORY, Richard's innate ability is to weave others' journeys, stories and memories into their precious narratives while respecting and honoring their unique voice. The LIFESTORY experience brings great joy, not only to the family, but to the one telling their story.

INTERVIEW:
Hello and welcome to this episode of Shop 4 a biz. My name is Daniel Triana and today's guest is Richard Squires. He's from Life Story, which is every Life is a story. Let me write yours. That's the slogan that they have at life story memoir dot com. And Richard take it away, feel free to share some information with us. Thanks so much. Daniel, yep. My name is Richard Squires. My company is life Story, and what I do is I write people's memoirs for them. These books that I create become legacies that families cherished for generations to come. Um my clients, they feel an incredible uh feeling of comfort and satisfaction from creating their own stories. So many of us have had the idea that put in the story of our life in a book is something that we would want to do and I make that happen. A lot of people sit down with the um trying to to begin it on their own to write their own stories, put pen to paper, but they shouldn't find out. It's it's a difficult task and so they hire me and the way that it works is I will interview you. Um I sit with you, I create a very warm and comfortable environment, I'm very easy to talk to. I bring all the questions and all the stories that your family has heard over the years about your youth, whatever experiences you've had, how you met your spouse, how you fall in love, the experience of becoming a a parent, a grandparent and and just the classic stories of your youth. Um These stories come out in conversation and they make it into the book and then on top of that throughout the conversation, people always think of things that they haven't thought about in years because I come in with the with the good questions. And from those interviews, I transcribed them. I edit your words into the most engaging narrative that it can be. It captures your voice and at the same time I do quite a bit of editing reorganization, taking out redundancy so that it reads is a very engaging read. And I include your pictures, vintage pictures, I do a professional formatting. I create a unique and custom cover and we haven't printed and it looks like a professional book that you would find in a bookstore or on on a in a library and something that, that is beautiful that you're proud to share with your family and friends and that you'll have again for generations. And now you know that your story is captured in your own voice and your family will be able to enjoy it for for generations. And uh, it's been a delight. Working with so many of my clients will all have interesting stories from holocaust survivors, to World War Two Veterans, to business moguls baker's film directors et cetera. It goes on and not, well not everybody's life, you know, is the kind of has the kind of story that would make a blockbuster film. Some do, but others there it's a beautiful story of a of a life where where it's unique, it's your unique story. Even the idea of just falling in love is unique to you and the way that it happened to you. And I um have clients of all ages and all types of books that focus on comprehensive life or more thematic um such as just business or uh youth et cetera. So I would love to hear your story. You can reach me at my email is Richard at life story memoir dot com. My website is W W W dot life story memoir dot com. And uh reach out if you would like to explore the idea of capturing your life story in a book that you can share with your family. Thank you very much Daniel. That's wonderful. Which is a very unique a concept that you have. It's like creating, like, family heirlooms Proudly one. It's like just capturing it uh an important memory for a family. It's very there's a very humanitarian aspect to that, I think that's wonderful that you do that. Thank you. Yes, each book is unique and and I love that you said, like, a family heirloom, you know, it's it's the kind of gift that keeps on giving and it's priceless and and it's valuable not only to the person who is sharing their story, but it's valuable to the family because I do believe in this intergenerational self, in that, you know, people who understand where they come from and the stories of their ancestors and sort of the grander generational narrative feel that they have um sort of a firmer footing on on where they fit, you know in life and in this world it actually helps um lead to better emotional health. Well what should I thank you so much. I really appreciate you sharing your information and I'm I'm hoping that people out there listen to your story as a matter of fact, I think our audience is about to chime in here. There we go. And hopefully this uh brings you some clients and then hopefully brings a little bit of uh little money to your business idea, which is I think is a wonderful uh not just when you're oriented, but humanitarian uh aspect to it. I appreciate it. Thank you. Thanks have a great day. Thank you Daniel.
