29: How PJ Jonas Uses Media Attention To Grow An Online Business
July 30, 2016
How PJ Jonas uses media attention to grow an online business PJ Jonas is a mother of 8 children. She homeschools them, she’s an entrepreneur, and she studied engineering in school. In fact, that’s when I met her, while we were both at the University of Virginia. I was an English major, by the way. Today, she, her husband, Jim, and her 8 children are working hard to grow the family business, Goat Milk Stuff. And PJ tells me, the media has been instrumental in the growth of the company. Maybe you’ve seen the family’s story on The Today Show or Fox News. Maybe you’ve seen her products featured in Oprah Magazine. Listen to how she got the attention of the media and what she’s done to leverage it to grow Goat Milk Stuff. I apologize for a bit of an echo when I talk, but no problems when PJ speaks. PJ has a lot to share and I didn’t want to delay releasing this episode. Enjoy! What you'll learn in this episode: *How PJ Jonas came up with the business idea, how she tested it, and when she realized it was a product worth making *What PJ did to test her product (before she committed to it) in the marketplace *When she decided to turn her side business into the family's full-time source of income *Lessons she's learned about growing a product-based online business *Why she made the decision to raise her product prices, and why it likely saved her company *Her step-by-step online marketing plan *The hard work it takes to market a business in person and online *How media attention has fueled the growth in her business *How she got that first feature on the local news, and what she did to get national coverage *The publicity strategy she began with, and the one she has today *What makes a good story *The return on investment of publicity *Why podcasts are so beneficial for businesses *How this homeschooling entrepreneur mom of eight "gets it all done" Links mentioned in this episode: GoatMilkStuff.com Click here for a free bar of goat milk soap Did you enjoy the show?
