Merrill is co-owner of SHIPSHAPE, MIDA, SHIPSHAPE Podcast. He balances his time between active networking, conducting podcasts with experts, and developing a marine services platform. He graduated with a degree in Cultural and Intellectual History from Rhodes College, where he helped create the college's first newspaper “The Sou'Wester.” After graduating he established 2 non-profits for people with Parkinson's. Later he hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2018, Merrill moved to Boston to attend Suffolk Law. While at Suffolk, Charette began his liveaboard journey aboard his 40-ft sailing yacht - Alabaré. Charette is a frequent contributor for Points East Magazine - the boating periodical for coastal New England.
