Should We Hate Brandon Sanderson? | Big and Useless Words
April 4, 2022
Brandon Sanderson, a best-selling author, raised millions of dollars on Kickstarter to write and self-publish a new book series. Some other authors are upset about this, because it sets a precedent for authors asking their fans for money instead of going through traditional publishing companies. Meanwhile, a man from Portage, Michigan pled guilty to wire fraud after he and three other men sold counterfeit textbooks on Amazon, making over $15 million dollars in the process. He states that the industry is moving more towards self-publishing, and that this could be a good or bad thing. - https://slate.com/culture/2022/03/brandon-sanderson-kickstarter-criticism-why-writers-are-upset-about-his-record-setting-campaign.html - https://www.mlive.com/news/kalamazoo/2022/02/portage-man-32-fourth-suspect-to-plead-guilty-in-15m-amazon-textbook-fraud-case.html - https://georgerrmartin.com/notablog/ - https://blog.reedsy.com/guide/publishing-companies-to-avoid/
