Should We Hate Brandon Sanderson? | Big and Useless Words
April 4, 2022
Brandon Sanderson, a best-selling author, raised millions of dollars on Kickstarter to write and self-publish a new book series. Some other authors are upset about this, because it sets a precedent for authors asking their fans for money instead of going through traditional publishing companies.
Meanwhile, a man from Portage, Michigan pled guilty to wire fraud after he and three other men sold counterfeit textbooks on Amazon, making over $15 million dollars in the process.
Finally, George R.R. Martin, another best-selling author, wrote a blog post about the changing landscape of publishing. He states that the industry is moving more towards self-publishing, and that this could be a good or bad thing.
