With decades of experience and expertise in learning theory, Stever Robbins sees the “knowing-doing gap” as a major challenge in transformative course creation. He, Danny, and Abe discuss overcoming this with behavior-based instructional design.
Stever Robbins is a serial entrepreneur, productivity expert, author, and creator/host of the Get-It-Done Guy podcast, which ran from 2007–2020 and has been downloaded more than 36 million times.
In this episode, Danny, Abe, and Stever explore:
The false equation of knowledge and action
Using misdirection to overcome resistance and foster learning
Instructional design and engaging behavior among your students
Creating interaction in large-scale courses
Addressing student frustration with instructional “misdirection”
“[There] is an unbelievably pervasive theory of how people learn and how people change behavior, which is that if you tell people the learning, they will somehow magically be able to do the thing.”
