Course Lab: Lessons from Successful Online Course Creators
The Missing Piece (Mary Williams)
December 6, 2021
In this episode of Course Lab, Mary Williams, founder of Sensible Woo, shares course-creation gold with her story of tech meets woo-woo. Listen in as Danny, Abe and Mary discuss how to find the missing piece for developing a uniquely marketable course.
Creating a successful course requires attention to market demand, but how do you know what that demand is, and how can you provide solutions within a client’s comfort zone? Sometimes the missing piece is a little outside of where you are looking. Mary Williams, founder of Sensible Woo, discovered opportunities to use what did resonate with clients in an effort to help them with challenges outside their comfort zone.

In this episode, Mary, Danny and Abe discuss looking past the obvious issue and digging into why your clients are facing the challenges they are facing. Mary describes how she engineered a framework for her course that helped her clients overcome challenges they could not clearly see by incorporating familiar and comfortable skills and concepts.

• In this episode we discuss:

“I think [clients] really need a bridge that they can understand.”

“Teaching [clients] those flexibility and resilience skills is, I think, part of the process too, and they don't really realize that's what they're doing.”
– Mary Williams
