Jesus taught that we must use our gifts wisely. Most of you on the call are quite familiar with the parables of the talents.
One of the lessons is that we must use our talents and abilities, as well as our wealth, in God's service. If we do not use our gifts wisely, God will consider us to be wicked and lazy like the third man in the parable.
For the sake of time, I’m providing Scriptural references for you to read and study in your quiet time. There are two familiar passages where Jesus taught about the Parable of the Talents are Matt. 25:14-30, Luke 19:11-27.
But I want to share an experience that really brought home a lesson on stewarding talents.

It is often said that if we look a our checkbooks, it will reveal where we spend our money. If we look at your calendar, it would reveal where you spend your time.
If you are an entrepreneur and there’s nothing on your calendar or you’re not somehow tracking how you’re spending your time, that may be another conversation for another time.
The point I’m trying to make is that our values are revealed not by what we say but by what we do. Our core beliefs and our convictions drive our decisions and reveals what’s really important to us.
How we spend our time both reveals and trains our hearts. Because where our time goes, there our hearts will be also.

The R’s in Stewardship (Responsibility, Rights, Regret, Reward, Requirement)
The Biblical doctrine of stewardship is about our relationship to God. That God is the owner and man as manager. God makes man His co-worker in administering all aspects of our life. In fact (1 Corinthians 3:9) Paul says “For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building”.
“For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.” KJV
Stewardship is about our practical obedience in the administration of everything that’s been entrusted to us.
As we administer His affairs under His constant authority.
God gave Adam and Eve “dominion” over creation (Genesis 1:28) but he also called them “caretakers.”
Psalm 24 tells us that everything belongs to God: “the world and those who dwell therein.” (v.1) Nothing we are given - whether money, responsibility, or talent - truly belongs to us. “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above” (James 1:17).
We have a short period of time on this earth and will have to give an account of our stewardship. The Lord makes it plain to us what good stewardship looks like, and the consequences of poor stewardship.
