OMG what did I actually do? And what happens next? Find out in today's podcast as the journey begins.
Welcome to the That's life podcast. You're listening to Richard Butler where I show you how you can make your life better. Let's do this.

Hey, guys. Richard Butler here with another podcast and a little bit late today, actually, because normally my podcast come out a little bit earlier on Monday and today. Well, it's Tuesday, but hey, that's okay. There's been a lot going on, and I am delighted to share something with you. Oh, my God, I've done it. I've actually resigned from my job. He might be going. What? This guy is 48. He is, uh, living in Spain, where sort of full time permanent jobs are far and few between. And he's left it well, yes, it's been a dream of mine to do this, And I always said when I joined the company that I joined, I said this would be the last time that I would work for a corporate business and it would be the last job I would ever have before going out my own. And last week I gave in my resignation notice, and it was it was a tearful event. It was It wasn't careful, but it was a little bit sad, and it was a very happy event because I have finally got the cojones, as they say here in Spanish, to go out and venture into the world by myself.

Now I'm going to be talking about my experiences over the next couple of podcasts, and you might ask about what you're going to be doing. Richard. Well, I'm going to be focusing in on building my coaching business and building my online training business. And what that means is producing more videos of reviews of self development, products of business services and also building soft development courses and other courses that I've wanted to build for a number of years. And the other thing is, I'm going to continue to write, and I'm going to try and go back to both my nonfiction and my fiction writing and have an idea of a book that I want to publish for my 50th birthday. So there's lots of exciting things coming along and, you know, it's scary to kind of say, Well, that's it. I no longer have a permanent job. I no longer have that safety net of knowing that every month I get my salary. Um, no matter what, of knowing that, I could take paid holidays of knowing that, you know, you always have the money in your bank account at the end of the month, and now it's up to me now it's up to me to put in the work because if I don't put in the work, I don't get paid.

So it's kind of a calculated risk in the sense that you know, I have a few ideas. I have a few projects that I'm going to start working on. But you know, it's going to be lean times ahead because, who knows, maybe it will be a roaring success. Maybe it will be quite successful, but I'll still have to Penny pinch. But, you know, I was just thinking that I was coming up to 48 49 and coming up to 50 and I was thinking, If I don't do it now, I will never do this. If I don't take the leap, I will never take that leap. And I don't want to live a life of regret. I don't want to live a life of what? What if I had done that?

What if I had tried to do that. And I think one of the things that really motivated me was covid. Why? Because I was able to work from home, Would you? Something I've always wanted to do And I was able to manage my time myself, and I thought, What if I could actually be able to work from home all the time? What if I could be able to actually decide where I wanted to work from? Because if my wife said, Let's go to Dublin for a couple of months, I don't have to ask anybody. I just go As long as I can get an Internet connection, I can work. But I also thought, Well, the problem is that this is going to mean that I'm gonna have to work a little bit more and I'm going to have to make sure that, you know, maybe even during holidays I work. But I was always doing that anyway. I was always checking emails during holidays and replying to emails and whatever.

So it would mean that if I if I go on holiday or when I go on holidays, I would just get up a little bit earlier and I'll just check my emails by the pool. Who doesn't want to do that? And, well, I'm going to be doing my own thing that I really love, which is podcasting, which is videos, which is training. I'm gonna be happier because I'm gonna be the one that's calling the shots, and that is a little bit frightening, but it's also really, really exciting. So, you know, I'd love to know your comments while I drop me an email. My email is Richard at richard butler dot coach. Let me just say that again because I stumbled. It's Richard at RichardButler.Coach.
