That's Teaching Life
Life is not a sprint - it's a marathon
April 4, 2022
Are you trying to get to where you need too quickly? Find out why you might need to slow down!
You're listening to that, That's Life podcast by Richard Butler where I talk about everything to do with life and how to make it better.

Hey, welcome along to this week's podcast and today I want to talk about and reflect on something that one of my mentors often says he says your journey in life is a marathon, it's not a sprint. I mean we don't have to get there in the next 10 minutes and that made me think, well, what could I talk about in this week's podcast and I thought let's focus on that. Let's talk about life being a marathon and I'm going to read out some reflective text that I want you to listen to and reflect on as I read it and then I want you to reflect on the questions that I asked.

So the thought for this week is life is a marathon. I'm training to be a steady, strong, passionate and committed endurance runner. I know I can go the distance because I trained constantly. My workouts include daily positive self talk affirmations and meditation with these. I can be successful for the long haul. Keeping myself talk positive, gives me an optimistic attitude. It levels out dramatic ups and downs of life and helps me maintain focus on my goals. Even when I meet challenges that tried to slow me down, I remain strong and keep moving forward. I may need to step off the path for a bit, but my positive self talk gets me back on track in record time when I make a mistake. I avoid beating myself up about it after all, everyone makes mistakes. I learn what I can from it and continue my trek. Like positive self talk affirmations keep me on track.

They affirmed the qualities I wish to strengthen, help break bad habits and aid me in making wise choices. I say them aloud every morning and night and whenever I'm tempted with an unwise choice affirmations allow a positive flow of thought to urge me forward like a wind at my back. Meditation lets me visualize my destination and the rejuvenating stops along the way, seeing and feeling the emotions of my dreams through meditation keeps them real meditation feels my passion and commitment. So I will never lose sight of where I want to be today. I plan to consciously train myself for the long haul. I renew my strength, passion and commitment for the life I desire. I want to ask you the following questions and I want you to reflect on them.

Do I like challenges, stopped me in my tracks and why am I truly committed and passionate about achieving my goals? What do I feel will be most effective to try myself for the long haul. And when we think about life we do, sometimes I feel that we have to achieve everything right away and that can put us under stress. That can make us even more stressed than we already are because we feel I've been in business for two months And I haven't made $1 million. I mean I've read that there are ways to make millions overnight, literally, but that's not always true. You can't compare yourself to anybody else. You can't compare your business to any other business or your life to anyone else's life because they all have different factors coming into play for me. I like to reflect on this quite a bit because sometimes I feel like that. Sometimes I go, I'm not doing enough during the day. I didn't do enough this week. And then I go, well says who I worked the hours I needed to work.

I paid money. I'm happy. What more do I want? Well, I do want more and I will get more. But it doesn't mean that I have to burn myself out. It doesn't mean that I have to lose touch with my family in order to get what I want. We will all get there and everybody like a marathon. Everybody goes at their own pace.

The main thing is not to give up, not to stop, not to let negative self talk come in, not to let negative ideas into your mind and let them settle there. The idea is to keep going and to remember that life is not a sprint. It's a marathon, You're in it for the long haul. So am I and I'll see you next week.
