Damian Kevitt was struck on his bicycle in 2013 and dragged under the vehicle down an onramp to the Golden State (5) Freeway, before the driver sped away. He miraculously lived. He turned the experience into a positive force for change, and founded Streets Are For Everyone (SAFE), a nonprofit advocating for pedestrian and bicycle safety programs.

Streets Are For Everyone (SAFE) aims to improve the quality of life for pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers alike by working to reduce traffic caused fatalities to Zero.
SAFE addresses the problem in a holistic fashion through direct education, broad awareness campaigns, partnerships, community outreach, policy and legislation, support for those impacted, and other proven strategies.
Damian Kevitt was struck on his bicycle in 2013 and dragged under the vehicle down an onramp to the Golden State (5) Freeway, before the driver sped away. He miraculously lived. Kevitt was hospitalized for months and one of his legs was amputated. Aside from living with a prosthetic leg and getting back on his bicycle to create “Finish the Ride” in 2014, Damian even ran the Los Angeles Marathon to show that losing his leg hasn’t stopped him from living his life and inspiring others.
He turned the experience into a positive force for change, starting forming Streets Are For Everyone (SAFE), a nonprofit advocating for pedestrian and bicycle safety programs. Kevitt said the support he continues to receive is surprising and rewarding.
