The Practice of Learning Teams
The Learning Team Journey of Kevin Furniss
October 14, 2020
Welcome to the 5th Episode of the podcast series. Our guest today is Kevin Furniss, who is one of the unsung heroes of doing Safety Differently. Join Kevin and I today as we chat about his Learning Team journey, living in sunny Barcelona and sharing cups of teas as commonwealth brothers in this extended episode of the show.
Hi Safety FM listeners, this is Brent Sutton, one of the co-hosts of the new podcast series The Practice of Learning Teams, with my fellow co-hosts Glynis McCarthy and Brent Robinson.

Our goal is to support you on your journey and build a better community of practice for Learning Teams.

On today's podcast of the show, we talk with one of the unsung heroes of Safety Differently, Kevin Furniss.

I first met Kevin when he was Head of Corporate Safety for the International logistics and supply chain organisation, A.P. Moller - Maersk. I was part of the big discussion group/think tank hosted by Dr Todd Conklin and Shane Bush, during 2019. Brent Robinson and I were fortunate to spend time with Kevin and hear him talk about his Learning Team journey at Maersk.

On today's episode Kevin Furniss will share with us;

1) How his Learning Team journey started
2) Where does the opportunity for learning come from
3) What makes a successful learning teams facilitator
4) What have been some of the challenges so far
5) What is the future of learning teams
6) His new business Adaptive Safety and his passion to do safety differently for others.

Because today's episode was longer than normal, we won't have the panel to reflect on their learnings from the podcast. We will be taking some of Kevin's key learnings and producing further mini-learning team episodes in the future.
