“To not engage in the injustice and suffering is a misrepresentation, a distortion of the gospel. It is to fail to draw to the world the picture that Jesus drew and is calling us to draw along with him, and it fails to join Jesus where he is busy setting things right. So this is the real question: are we, as a community, ready to engage in the work Jesus is calling us into?” As we near the end of our Liturgy series, Bob speaks on our Core Value of The Poor, walking through passages from Isaiah and Matthew, examining the life of Jesus and his response to the poor around him as a model of our response to the poor around us. From the lens of justice as a proclamation of the hope to come, he calls us to action, asking if we are willing to let Jesus disrupt our lives as we work to follow him.
