Confident Singing Made Simple
How To Perform With Confidence with No Rehearsal
July 29, 2021
Preparing for, and having, a successful singing performance when you get no rehearsal and don't know the room or the sound person, is not easy. Fortunately there are some steps you can take that will help you to sing with confidence and shine like a star. Today, we're going to hear from one of my Confident Vocalist Circle classes where I shared my tips for preparing for and handling a recent mystery performance, singing at my sister’s wedding reception. I’m sharing this on the podcast because I had several people message me after the class and they shared with me how much of a game-changer it’s been in their ability to be confident in a mystery performance...one where you are walking into a situation with no rehearsal and little insight into the situation.

Have some friends and family in the audience you can look at when performing so that you do not get nervous. Or you can also set your gaze in a way that you are not making eye contact and giving off the impression that you are looking at them.

Practice helps improve your performance. This does not necessarily mean singing over and over. here's some alternatives.
