Yeah, absolutely. I'll tell you one of the beautiful things I love about South Jordan and where I live is that I do get the opportunity to work from home, I actually own two different insurance agencies, one handles personal lines, insurance, like home and cars, and RVs, and boats and all those fun kinds of things. And the other one is my health insurance agency. And I get to operate both of those remotely. I've got a team of four people that work with us, and we all work from home, we all get to enjoy the benefits of having a flexible schedule and being there for our families when they need them. But running an insurance agency has just been a super great blessing in our lives. It's been a lot of fun.

Business Spotlight for Matthias Allred – Skyline Insurance Agency

Matthias Allred owns two different insurance agencies, one handles personal lines, insurance, like home and cars, and RVs, and boats and all those fun kinds of things and the other one is a health insurance agency. They have been in business since 2012. 

Matthias has a team of four people that get to all work from home. They all get to enjoy the benefits of having a flexible schedule and being there for our families when they need them. 

Skyline Insurance Agency is the health insurance agency. Health insurance open enrollment is just around the corner. That's the time of year when people get to make changes to their health insurance plans or pick a new plan. For a lot of people, they'll get their health insurance through work and that is great. 

Allred says, “I'm glad that they're being taken care of. A lot of people, especially our self-employed, business owners may not get the insurance that needs for their family through work. That's our area of expertise. We help people who don't get insurance through work or through their employer to find either an individual or a family plan to take care of them. A lot of those plans happen through the federal marketplace. Sometimes that's known as Obamacare.” 

There's no price difference that you would pay for your insurance, whether you go directly to the marketplace, whether you call the insurance company directly, or you work through a broker like Matthias, the price is the same no matter where you go. The advantage of working through a broker like Skyline is that they will shop with multiple carriers. That consultative approach to their clients helps them understand what options they really have and how to really select the best plan for them.

Here is an example Matthias shared with us. 

“I recently had a couple that was moving from Colorado to Utah. You can imagine moving to a whole new state or new area, you're not familiar with the insurance companies, the plans, the networks, or how things work in that state. When they called me up, she had a whole list of questions. I could just tell by her voice that she was really flustered and really confused. She said that she had spent hours and hours on the internet, trying to figure out what options might be best for their family. What I love about my job is the result of that conversation. We were on the phone for 20 to 25 minutes. I just went through the whole gamut of how the insurance works and how we can narrow it down for her family. When we hung up, she had the exact plan in mind that she wanted. We helped her process all the enrollments. Her parting comments or parting words were, ‘Wow, I wish I had called you before I spent hours and hours and hours doing research.’”

Matthias is a resident of South Jordan, and his business is based here. He is married with three kids. He loves living here because of the quiet and safe neighborhoods.

Allred said about his hobbies and likes, “I like to build things. I tinker in the garage all the time. I have many projects going on at the same time. I also love being on the water and being outdoors. Most of all, I love being with my kids and giving them experiences.”
