Do you ever feel brain dead?
February 20, 2021
In this episode we talk about the one skill needed to stay sharp.
In a zoom meeting with one of my teammates, she asked me: How do I learn things so quickly? How do I pick up information so quickly? Because she said that a lot of times she feels brain dead and doesn't want to think. And I stopped her and I said, I have those moments a lot. Um, everyone feels brain that everyone feels like your brain's not working.
I do know that I don't think I'm as sharp as I used to be in the past, but I've adapted to be able to perform at the same level, and the way that I've been doing that is I try to protect my focus as much as possible. In other words, I don't let anything distract me. I have all my notifications turned off. Even if I accidentally see something that doesn't have anything to do with what I'm currently working on, then I will quickly forget it. I won't put any more brain cells into processing that information because I know that as soon as I jump into that train of thought, I'm going to lose my other train of thought and getting back into that last train of thought. It takes a lot more time to do that, so I try to protect.
My focus is much as possible, and this skill that I've been working on has helped me perform at the same level that I used to be able to perform way back when I was a lot more sharper and had a lot more energy to focus on several things at once. So I think everyone feels like that everyone feels brained at the same time. But what you do is you figure out ways to stay sharp by figuring out shortcuts like the one that I just described.
You can practice your answers. You can really just keep on studying and be a lifelong learner, because that way you're always practicing those skills toe, learn new things and pick up new things. But everyone feels brain dead, and that's okay. You just protect your focus. Then you can. You can learn things pretty quickly and keep that focus and use it for some good. So I'll see you guys in the next episode.
