Transcription of the “Discussing the Genre Tropes” Segment (Unedited and Un-Cleaned up)

Far From Disney - Transcription

Avish Parashar: Segment one discussing the genre tropes.
Avish Parashar: Yes, and our five minute starts now all right let's talk James Bond tropes.
Michael Worth: yeah alright so um now again we're not doing James Bond we're doing James Bond esque.
Avish Parashar: yeah so yeah.
Michael Worth: So where's main character is.
Avish Parashar: soiree dad came off.
Michael Worth: lethal but also charismatic.
Avish Parashar: yeah the ladies man yep.
Michael Worth: This is, this is the main character he's got a high integrity like incorruptible but also.
Michael Worth: It is a bit of ends justify the means.
Avish Parashar: Right yeah you got does whatever he has to he.
Avish Parashar: You know, he, like he's he's high integrity, but he also like doesn't care all that much about authority yeah like i'll follow orders he doesn't admission but he's not above going outside the lines and yeah right.
Michael Worth: The villain is I mean God it's like pretty much writes itself the villain is usually.
Avish Parashar: there's usually guys like a mastermind the main villain is usually not physically imposing usually usually is like a mastermind a scientist or rich or politician.
Michael Worth: But of course he has the henchmen yeah.
Avish Parashar: it's funny it's kind of it's not that dissimilar from last week in terms of the basic character structure, like last week, something got a villain that got henchmen there's a maintenance man, you know, like jaws or grace Jones or whatever.
Michael Worth: yeah the edge had some sort of an effect modification device specialized weapon.
Avish Parashar: yeah right yeah some kind of a unique identifier.
Michael Worth: Oh yeah the villain villain is mastermind made a lot of smart enough physically imposing often rich and powerful.
Michael Worth: As he needs to to to fund his maniacal scheme.
Michael Worth: alright.
Avish Parashar: there's always a female.
Avish Parashar: yep femme fatale type.
Avish Parashar: Usually i'm.
Avish Parashar: Either like always involved somehow the story, like the the plot you either it's one of three things right it's either like a scientist or someone germane to the the technology it's going to be used or it's a spy on his side or it's a spy on the other side.
Michael Worth: that's true yeah.
Avish Parashar: it's one of those yeah.
Michael Worth: yeah so and some dogs are two female but we may not be able to get to two females in this we just have to have one.
Avish Parashar: Just yeah for this one will probably just need one, but you know another one may show up but yeah there's a femme fatale who's.
Avish Parashar: capable depends what era of James Bond we're talking and earlier areas would often end up being like a damsel in distress, but in later would be more capable and really able to.
Michael Worth: Although you'd be surprised pussy galore in goldfinger was surprisingly capable, it was Jane seymour in live and let die that was pretty much the she was the Oracle she was the seer she was the classic like.
Avish Parashar: can't really yeah yeah a few through the are they kind of you know, in yeah yo.
Michael Worth: yo baby host.
Avish Parashar: Michelle yeoh came back right, but that was after a couple others that were more like just very passive so.
Avish Parashar: yeah alright so yeah get a femme fatale got a henchman other platforms there's usually a huge complicated plot like life world ending or changing.
Michael Worth: You know what blood we gonna tackle it's almost always he gets sent on a mission to discover one thing and then discovers the real plot, which is totally unrelated.
Michael Worth: Like I was watching the living daylights don't ask me oh yeah cuz he did with the latest podcast remember it was like oh he's cheating with horse races.
Avish Parashar: yeah That was a view to a kill but yeah.
Michael Worth: Have you don't kill yeah.
Avish Parashar: yeah there's like there's like a first plot.
Michael Worth: A false first plot with a false flag.
Avish Parashar: That reveals the big plot.
Michael Worth: This is going to be harder than I thought.
Avish Parashar: We may again we're going to streamline and this is what we're playing around with right now.
Avish Parashar: yeah yeah the huge plot it's, this is another challenge will have its multi location right everybody who's got almost at least three different cities around the world and they're.
Michael Worth: Always exotic and beautiful.
Avish Parashar: exotic.
Avish Parashar: Beautiful there's.
Avish Parashar: Usually sex often more than one person bond has sex with like there's us like a previous random person or hence woman or a lackey.
Avish Parashar: yeah yeah yes excellent like early in the movie and then he has sex at the end with the main female.
Michael Worth: Right right that's me a fade to black moment for our show shows PG 13 minus the swearing.
Michael Worth: yeah um so uh.
Michael Worth: And then there's always a big um final like not battling a final stage battle.
Michael Worth: yeah which is usually on a very dramatic.
Avish Parashar: location yeah, but this is an epic.
Avish Parashar: Oh there's also always like earlier there's the mission debriefing scene and the gadgets and the gadget seed.
Michael Worth: Oh yeah yeah yeah act one has the mission debriefing.
Michael Worth: misha OPS and gadgets.
Avish Parashar: The brief that gadgets any user the gadgets throughout yeah.
Michael Worth: And then I mean.
Avish Parashar: I was five minutes, so any final tropes you want to throw in there.
Michael Worth: Now that's gonna get a start, I think that was the big thing we got was the idea of the false first plot into the into the real plot.

Transcription of the “Creating the Outline” Segment (Unedited and Un-Cleaned up)

Avish Parashar: Excellent well done all right, so now segment to creating the outline.
Avish Parashar: All right, let us now make our outline and we start with a four act structure you prior to three act structure we just split Act two into two X, we have four X opening.
Michael Worth: It just helps me with the Games yeah.
Avish Parashar: yep Okay, so now we kind of go back and forth on our format, do we want to start with a trailer or do we want to start with the.
Avish Parashar: Because bondo is has that like prologue scene.
Michael Worth: He has a cold open scene yeah.
Avish Parashar: yeah so we can do both, but I think, for the sake of time for today, we should just pick one either we do a trailer or we do the high action prologue.
Avish Parashar: I think I think I actually yeah for bond, and then we need a prologue yeah which that's like that that starts that opening mission that may or may not be related to the.
Avish Parashar: Somebody moves it's completely unrelated but later they got smarter and that opening mission would somehow lead to the bigger story yes alright so then for act one.
Avish Parashar: So we got a lot of stuff has to happen and.
Avish Parashar: He needs to.
Avish Parashar: He needs to get briefed.
Avish Parashar: He needs the tech right the briefing and the tech he needs to go on his first exposure first level mission.
Michael Worth: investigated mission yeah.
Avish Parashar: you'd still usually meet the female.
Avish Parashar: Usually often meet at the villain and or the henchmen the main henchmen at this point.
Avish Parashar: They usually cross paths it in act one.
yeah.
Avish Parashar: don't write will have ways of jamming this all in there i'm.
Avish Parashar: Right and oftentimes if i'm wrong he actually ended up succeeding, and the first mission, but even though he succeeds, and when you realize it allows the much beer plot.
Avish Parashar: yeah yeah alright, so we got basically got into the celebrity two sections and enact one he's got to do the briefing and the tech.
Avish Parashar: And then the whole sequence, where he goes on the mission meets the female meets the villains and succeeds or fails in that mission so it's kind of like too many parts there and.
Michael Worth: yeah yeah the foils the first mission that you know, the first or he discovers the first he got kind of figures out and solves the first mission, but a lot of times you might not even.
Michael Worth: be like Oh, we figured out that the again he was doping, the horses and then we can figure out what they're like, but then he finds out the next thing it's like well let's not worry about the horse.
Avish Parashar: Sometimes it's like kind of unrelated likely fans were adobe in the horses, but while I was investigating adobe horses, I came across a meth lab I came across a.
Avish Parashar: I came across a device that wants to destroy California like.
Avish Parashar: Oh, we should do something about that.
Avish Parashar: Alright, so in Act two so he's so usually Act two is the investigating learning so obviously each one's got a different exotic location so act one will be in one locale act to be a different locale.
Michael Worth: Yes, um, this is actually where he is okay, so this is putting the other pieces of the puzzle as to how this he finds out the first plan at the end of act one the real plan to is where he discovers kind of.
Avish Parashar: I feel like act one at the end of act one he discovers that there is a bigger plan, but he doesn't quite know what it is like a lot of time to like find a name like what is Center just.
Avish Parashar: Go find out.
Michael Worth: Right right right that's why I was researching various locations he's putting the other pieces of the puzzle usually like one locations where equipments being built one location is like when are various you know.
Avish Parashar: Right, so an act to, I think, is where he needs to actually discover what the plan is.
Avish Parashar: And usually the female will be with him.
Michael Worth: And this is where he gets his life threatened and gets one of his first action scenes usually.
Avish Parashar: Usually it's a phone after the prologue and sometimes act one now be an action scene too, but.
Michael Worth: yeah but really active for a lot of good stuff have you been on a train and like he's climbing up.
Avish Parashar: And there may or may not be the main henchmen but they'll definitely be henchmen yes to like do stuff.
Avish Parashar: yeah alright so act three is by this point he's kind of.
Avish Parashar: he's got a sense of what the plot is like what the bad guys plan is arm.
Avish Parashar: And now, he wants to go and try to either learn more about or stop it.
Avish Parashar: right kind of shifts modes and, like all right now we know um.
Avish Parashar: Oh, you know, the one thing we left out, it was happens almost every bond movie which may be, this will be part of Act two is there's always an undercover element where he, like.
Avish Parashar: pretend to be somebody else to like learn more right, so I think it has to be active if he's gonna go in disguise, as you know, Jim Jim Smythe or whoever.
Michael Worth: The slide.
Michael Worth: slide so brilliant disagree with the Brits called St john surgeon that's actually.
Avish Parashar: I had no idea.
Michael Worth: That I until I saw.
Avish Parashar: Engine that's weird.
Avish Parashar: All right, so uh so actually then he.
Avish Parashar: Usually gets revealed add like singles minds Dr James Bond at the end of Act two so now he gets proactive proactive either in learning a proactive investigating or trying to stop.
Michael Worth: At this stage of the game.
Michael Worth: he's starting to stop the.
Michael Worth: starting to stop the plot.
Michael Worth: and
Avish Parashar: that's five minutes, but we can go for like another minute to finish up every.
Michael Worth: frickin James Bond.
Michael Worth: yeah stop the plot at this point he attracts.
Michael Worth: The attention of the bad guy and, if I remember correctly, this is where.
Michael Worth: numero UNO henchmen.
Michael Worth: tries to kill bond and bond narrowly escaped.
Avish Parashar: yeah there's usually some kind of a.
Michael Worth: New Order to tries to kill bond.
Michael Worth: The bond narrowly escaped or spy bond, you know.
Avish Parashar: By the end of act three the whole plot is definitely known like what the bad guys plan is which lead to act for which is the.
Avish Parashar: At the final location, you know, whatever the device or the thing is the headquarters is it just the big confrontation that point like he's got to sneak and he's got to get to the bad guy and fight the bad guy and then, when it's.
Michael Worth: almost always stealth, followed by disruption.
Michael Worth: Of the plan, followed by killing henchmen then villain.
Michael Worth: And then, and then the oral sex.
Avish Parashar: Well, yes what's your sex.
Michael Worth: was all gives a good spanking.
Avish Parashar: All right, okay so that's our outline and.

Michael Worth: When you read it a James Bond thing it looks like the fever dream of a horny 14 year old.
