Villainy is a New Zealand rock band that was formed in Auckland in 2010. The band consists of Neill Fraser (vocals, guitar), James Dylan (guitar), Dave Johnston (bass), and Thom Watts (drums). Villainy's music is characterized by its high-energy, guitar-driven sound, which draws on a range of influences, including punk, grunge, and classic rock. The band's lyrics often explore themes of self-doubt, anxiety, and personal struggles, but are also infused with a sense of humor and self-awareness. Villainy released their debut album, "Mode. Set. Clear." in 2012, which received critical acclaim and earned the band several awards, including Best Rock Album at the New Zealand Music Awards. They have since released two more albums, "Dead Sight" in 2015 and "Raised in the Dark" in 2019, both of which were also well-received by critics and fans. In addition to their studio work, Villainy is also known for their high-energy live shows, which have earned them a reputation as one of New Zealand's best live acts. They have toured extensively throughout New Zealand and Australia, as well as playing shows in the United States and Europe.
