It’s easy to build a case for steel. Steel is sustainable and durable, lasting for decades. It is, quite literally, the ultimate building material for a circular economy.  So why isn’t steel used more in residential buildings…and what is a ‘barndominium’?

We are thrilled to welcome Tony Bouquot, General Manager of the Metal Building Manufacturers Association, who dives headfirst into building a case for using steel in more residential areas, shares the very origins of steel’s existence in World War I and Quonset Huts, and explains why it’s such an important material, especially in a time when energy is becoming not only more vital, but expensive too. This episode also breaks down some of the misconceptions of steel-built buildings and why those misconceptions exist in the first place.

Find out more about how important sustainable steel is not just to the US, but to the world in this episode of the Steel Stories by U. S. Steel podcast.
