Welcome Gorgeous to episode number two. I am so excited you are here!

Christine Schlonski  [spp-timestamp time="0:06"]

So today is one of those teaching point days and I'm very excited about the topic I have chosen for today for the future if you want to have questions answered. Please send an email to info@christineschlonski.com. Schlonski is S-C-H-L-O-N-S-K-I, christineschlonski.com. You can send your comments, you can send questions and then whenever variety Friday comes up, I will take what I have gotten from you and I will just make a mix out of teaching, question answering or resource sharing. And Mondays and Wednesdays we are having amazing interviews with world-class entrepreneurs who share their success story with us and who will show different aspects of sales and yeah, just help each and every one of us to understand sales better to feel amazing when we are in the process of selling and also to actually embrace sales and love sales because sales is love.

Christine Schlonski [spp-timestamp time=" 2:04"]

Maybe you already heard me talking about it in episode zero. If not just go back and listen, tune in. So make sure you subscribe that you get notifications for every new episode that comes out. And today my topic is mindset because sales starts with mindset. And I don't know if you have noticed the distinction, but I don't just talk about a sales mindset. I talked about a sales-success-mindset and there is a huge difference. So I wanted to take the time today to explore this topic with you. So sales-success-mindset is as the words already say, a mindset that helps you to be successful in sales. Every person has a sales mindset. The issue with it is just that it's for most people it's pretty bad because they avoid selling, they're afraid of sales, they think they are sleazy or pushy or unethical or salesy when they want to make an offer, and I have seen it over and over and over again, and I have experienced that over the years training and building sales teams and also now seeing it in my clients that making that offer seems to be a huge challenge for some of you who are so heart-centered.

Christine Schlonski  [spp-timestamp time="3:36"]

And I totally get that because when I started my sales journey, I never ever intended to be in sales. I was afraid of sales. I was embarrassed that my Yeah, that by title my job title or had sales in them. So I didn't really tell people what I was doing. Instead of saying, Well, I'm a sales executive, or I'm a sales rep or something like this, I always just said, well, I work in event management. Right? So didn't have the word sales in it. That is how I felt when I started my journey.

Christine Schlonski  [spp-timestamp time="4:13"]

The good news is today that you can align your head and your heart, you can actually stay in your heart space. And when you are in that heart space, there is your sales power. Maybe you have not discovered that yet. So I'm going to introduce to you a formula that I have created over the years. It's called Sales P.O.W.E.R. formula. And I will walk you just through the simple steps a little bit later after we have spoken about that mindset. So let's dive right in.

Christine Schlonski  [spp-timestamp time="4:49"]

I just wanted to make sure that we're talking about the same basis. So I looked at mindset on Wikipedia, right? Where else do you go in today's modern world, you just Google it and you probably find stuff you are looking for on Wikipedia. And they made it pretty easy for me to just pull it from there. So they say: "mindset is a set of assumptions, methods or notations held by one or more people". All right, you can probably agree on that, that a lot of people think that sales is just not a noble thing to do. And that it feels hard or difficult that it feels like we are taking something from somebody, they're giving us their money. And yeah, it just, it's not something we are totally excited about. And jump out of bed.

Christine Schlonski  [spp-timestamp time="5:46"]

The good news is here as well, that can be changed. And I would love to show you how. So the next point Wikipedia says is: " a mindset can also be seen as incident of a person's worldview or philosophy of life".

Christine Schlonski  [spp-timestamp time="6:06"]

So I know many healers, creative coaches, they are just don't have sales in their repertoire. They just want to give, give, give. So their worldview is I'm here to give. So don't take. And that is not a very healthy attitude. Because it's not helping the person and that person might be burning out ending up frustrated in a nine to five job not fulfilling their life purpose, because they could not receive. With giving and receiving, there needs to be a balance, it's a formula as well.

Christine Schlonski  [spp-timestamp time="6:49"]

Giving is receiving, you give in the same proportion, then you receive. That as a very important thing to understand. And then last but not least: "a mindset maybe so firmly established that it creates a powerful incentive to continue to adapt or accept prior behaviors, choices or tools."

Christine Schlonski  [spp-timestamp time="7:18"]

And I want to dive into this one, especially with you today, because I have really, really thought about it. and it came just up in a coaching session with another client. And I thought the way I explained it was pretty cool because she had one of those aha moments. So I thought, I'm just going to share this you.

Christine Schlonski  [spp-timestamp time="7:41"]

So just imagine you would come to Germany to visit me, which would be pretty cool, by the way, and we would go together in a beautiful car on the Autobahn. I hope that sounds a little bit exciting for you. And just that, you know, the Autobahn does have a speech limit. That doesn't have a speed limit is kind of a fairy tale. And I know that abroad, so many people think you can just go as fast as you want. They're totally excited. It is true. There are some parts without speed limit, but in our days, there is a speed limit in place for most of the part with kind, which kind of killed the fun. Nevertheless, it's fun to go on the Autobahn. So whenever you come over to Germany, don't hesitate and try out the Autobahn. It's a thing to do in your life.

Christine Schlonski  [spp-timestamp time="8:33"]

So just imagine you and I would be in the car driving down the Autobahn. And since we are driving really, really fast, we decide that we need to take exit because we are going the wrong way. We missed the turn. And all of a sudden going so fast, we just realized that it's very important that we make a decision together to take the next exit ramp, and just leave the Autobahn to course correct. So what do I say this this? Pretty simple, your thoughts and behaviors around sales is like the Autobahn and you can go fast on the Autobahn because it is a path that is taken so often that people are going from A to B so often, and in such speed, that somebody built a road that would last this fast speed, right, there is a path that has been taken over and over and over again, till somebody actually put a road and not just the road, but like a road that's really robust, and where you can go 100 miles per hour and even faster and so there's the Autobahn. The same happens when you have your thought patterns and your behaviors that you do over and over, over and over and over and over again, you are getting better in driving on the Autobahn each and every little ride you take. And the issue with your sales mindset is that it is not very supporting for you to support more people. Because if sales is a fearful thing, and you don't really enjoy it, and it feels weird and sleazy and pushy, not natural, your Autobahn is going into the wrong direction. So what do you need to do?

Christine Schlonski  [spp-timestamp time="10:39"]

Well, first of all, you cannot just do a U-turn on the Autobahn. Right? First of all, the you know, the lanes are separate, the sides are separated on the Autobahn. So you have to take off, you have to exit and then you have to basically go round on the bridge and you have to go to to the other side. So you can go in a different direction, or you have to take a totally different Autobahn. That is another choice that needs to be considered. So when you are leaving the Autobahn, you cannot just leave it at 100 miles per hour. You need to slow down to get the exit ramp. And that's basically for every road, right? It's not just the Autobahn whenever you want to exit it's most of the time you have to go - slow down, in Germany, it's like something between 30 or 40 kilometers per hour, you slow down so you can take the exit ramp. And then the exit ramp most of the time is like a curve. So you if you have a high speed, it's going to throw you off the curve and you're going to have an accident which you don't want.

Christine Schlonski  [spp-timestamp time="11:51"]

So you slowing down to leave the Autobahn and to course correct which is the same for your thoughts. What I'm trying to say is that you when you slow down, you get that clarity. And when you get that clarity when you actually know which exit to take, because you didn't miss it by being so fast that you couldn't read the sign, you get that clarity to make a course correction. It's the same as your thoughts and you can go on a different road and from the different road, you can go on a different Autobahn. An Autobahn that actually helps you to have the right behavior and the right thoughts, the right mindset to be successful when selling. So a sales mindset is usually pretty bad. But a sales-success-mindset is amazing. It is a mindset that you require. And with that mindset, you enjoy the sales conversations because you have fun conversations. You enjoy them because you know, you can support that client, you can help them to have the transformation, you can give them your gifts and make their world so much better.

Christine Schlonski  [spp-timestamp time="13:11"]

But to start, you have to slow down and slowing down means you have to ask yourself questions. Why do you think how you think? Why do you have such negative feelings in regards to sales? What is it? And I just want to point out that it could be several things well, you could have a negative sales experience which leaves you with the want, the desire never ever to act like that salesperson acted with you, with your clients. Or your parents could have had negative experiences with salespeople, your aunt, your uncle, your spouse, your siblings..

Christine Schlonski  [spp-timestamp time="13:58"]

Somewhere in your life, you have had a negative sales experience, and we all have had those. It now just depends on how impactfull it was, that you made the decision that asking for money, that selling is something bad. Because this is where you actually cut yourself off, where you sabotage yourself and you cut yourself off from that abundance, from the abundance not only, I don't mean just money coming your way, I mean, the abundance of love of positive emotions of serving people, the abundance that also includes money, but it's not about money, because money is just a tool money is just energy. So when you keep sabotaging yourself, usually it looks like that, that you have a great conversation. And at the moment where you make an offer, you lose your confidence. you struggle you you lose momentum, you might freeze up or you even choke when you make an offer. And your client knows and feels that something is not okay. And that is when they actually feel pushed away from you. So that they decide, probably not buy from you, because their alarm bells are going off. Because your behavior changed the energy changed, your frequency changed, your confidence changed.

Christine Schlonski  [spp-timestamp time="15:31"]

And when you're not confident then why should people buy from you? And with all the amazing gifts you have, it's really a pity if you stay in that space. So I would love to invite you to do a journaling exercise to just sit down and write down all the emotions that are coming up, when you just think about the time when you could make a sale. Just think about what happens when you have a conversation and somebody is interested to buy from you. Are you kind of freaking out internally? Do you get nauseous like one of my clients, or anxious like what happens? What happens in your emotional world? And it's just so important for you to understand, because when you go 100 miles, 150 miles on the Autobahn there's no way that you can course correct. So by sitting down and journaling and writing out your emotions, you get that clarity. And with clarity, you have different opportunities than without so you can go from that clarity and can decide how you want to be as a salesperson, how your new story is supposed to be. And that creates a different environment. So you identify your emotions regarding sales, and I have heard so many from salesy, pushy sleazy, unethical, dirty, I mean, you name it, and people have told me that is how they feel in selling and there wasn't a single good emotion, but also that's my specialty. So I do focus on people that have these emotions, so I can help them to turn their mindset around into a sales success mindset.

Christine Schlonski  [spp-timestamp time="17:39"]

Once you've done that exercise and you feel pretty clear of where the emotions are coming from. You then can continue with sales journaling prompts.
