35 startup launches and 10,000 book sales goal (2021)
April 11, 2021
In this episode, we share our big, hairy, audacious goals for the next six months.
So here's my big, hairy, audacious goal for the next six months and I will keep you up to date on how I'm doing in terms of reaching this goal. Whether I succeed, whether I fail, I'll share all this with you. My big, hairy, audacious goal for the next six months is to be able to sell $200,000 worth of my book. So that's 10,000 books at $20 each, $200,000 worth of books by October 20. So I can have 10,000 pre-sales by the time launch comes out on November 20, 2021.

Um, if you're curious about the book, go to minimumviablemarkup.com and you can check it out there. Mvmbook.com for sure, but minimumviablemockup.com. That's my book. And on top of that, I also plan to help 35 startups get their first paying customer.

So I just started an accelerator program and I'm super excited. I've signed on some pretty interesting startups that I think are going to do really, really well. And my plan is to first start with a small cohort of five startup founders and the startup founders will be case studies for my book. So it'll help me, it will help them. I think it'll be amazing. And within the next six months, my plan is to help 35 startups get their first paying customer.

And then after six months, my plan is to help 30 startup founders each month to be able to hit this goal to get their first paying customer. So that's my big, hairy, audacious goal for the next six months. I will definitely keep you up to date on How I'm going there.

This isn't the first time that I've done big hairy, audacious goals in 2017. My big, hairy, audacious goal for that time was to be conversationally fluent in Spanish in three months and this was a lot of work, but for me to be able to do it, I hired a private tutor, I was doing five hours of private sessions each week and wherever I went, I would just carry around this little notebook and I would just write things in Spanish. It doesn't matter if I was at a club party playing poker with family, going to work wherever I would just take my notebook with me and I will try to contextualize everything that I was experiencing in Spanish so everything made sense to me. It wasn't studying some kind of random stuff, it was like day-to-day things that I'm already doing and I'm contextualizing this in Spanish. And sure enough, three months later I was conversation fluent. I couldn't really understand when other people spoke, especially if they spoke fast. So my listening comprehension wasn't that great. But I was able to communicate myself properly and in a way where all my needs are met.

So I would say that that was conversation flowed and that was my big hairy, audacious goal and I and I reached it. And then the following year I decided that I decided that I would do the same thing with french and unfortunately life got in the way that didn't necessarily happen. So that was a failure.

And then just this past year in 2020, my big hairy, audacious goal was to do $1 million dollars worth of revenue. Did I hit that? Hell no. Did I get close? Hell no, not even close. But I've learned a lot from making that goal. I'm recalibrating. And now my new goal is to do 10,000 book sales for $200 in revenue for the pre-sell and help 35 startups get their first paying customer. Mhm. I will keep you guys up to date on the progress of this endeavor. Boom. Bam. I'm out.
