How Not to Fail at Your New Year Resolutions
January 14, 2019
Why is it that SO MANY people fail their new year resolutions? Is it even possible not to???? A massive percentage of people will have 'failed' their resolutions by the second week of January and another massive chunk will have abandoned them by February... So why do people bother setting them and is there a better way? I think setting goals is way more effective than creating resolutions - even though they can be helpful. Thinking about resolutions at this time of year can be great as a marker of time and to get a bit of leverage on resetting goals BUT just plucking a resolution for the sake of it is almost doomed to fail.... In this episode Shandra reveals a famous goal setting study that is often quoted that is actually a lie and the one that is true. She talks you through: •How and why resolutions and goals can go badly •What to look out for when setting resolutions or goals •3 research insights you can actually use in real life •The way to do it that sets you up to be more likely to succeed •The link between mindfulness meditation and setting goals Shandra also invites you to come along to her event - Redefine. Reinvent. Make 2019 the Year of You goal setting workshop. This is being held in person in Sydney and you can get all the details here. If you don't want to wait until then, or can't make that date then you can do the online workshop - click here to find out more and get started as soon as today. Thank you for listening!
