Railway Industry Opinion On Open Access - Railways Africa
October 23, 2020
Phillippa Dean, editor of Railways Africa. Open access, public-private participation - will have a direct impact on the supply base in South Africa. It will enable Transnet to do more, including, earn more. Providing all the people of South Africa the ability to access a safe, reliable and predictable passenger rail service that will be part of an integrated public transport network.
The South African President last week noted in the SA economic recovery plan, that good things were about to happen with the rail sector! Off the back of this, Traxtion, announced an initial investment of R1.5 billion, during a virtual Africa Rail event. Probably the best news to come out of 2020!

With that said, we chatted to a few private operators, and we look forward to hopefully having a conversation with Transnet and the Ministry of Transport!
