How to get someone to fall in love with you. In this episode, David Dubé shares the story of a couple of researchers that wanted to spark intimacy in people who knew little to nothing of each other and what it eventually turned into.
How to get someone to fall in love with you.

To some, the idea might seem ludicrous but is it? A couple of researchers in the 1990s took it upon themselves to find out. Arthur Aron, Ph.D, and Elaine Aron, Ph.D., set out in an experiment to see if they could get individuals who knew nothing about each other to have deeper connections and intimacy.

In their research, they paired individuals who had similar belief structures and gave them a series of 36 questions to ask each other, with the goal being to find out how close they felt to each other.

It is noted that Elaine stated that the questions they settled on were not created to get two people to fall in love with each other but rather to create a feeling of closeness.

The research portion was published in 1997 in the paper Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin which describes their complete study and findings.

The story continues, however, in 2015 when love columnist Mandy Len Catron writes "To Fall in Love With Anyone, Do This" where she takes the 36 questions of Arthur and Elaine Aron and uses herself as a test subject where the man she goes through the process with she eventually marries. Bringing new attention to the original research and whether or not these 36 questions can lead to a couple falling in love.

So, the questions are, do these 36 questions really work? Will it work for you? Can two people actually fall in love from asking each other just 36 questions?
